Forcible Entry Training

Training was presented this morning to Members of Station 84 and Gloucester Twp Companies by Eckert Fire Tactics LLC. Training consisted of Forcible Entry on several different props brought by the Instructor Team. Groups worked in 6 rotations, forcing inward and outward facing doors, cutting through locks and bars, as well as zero visibility forcible entry.

A huge thank you to Captain Eckert and his cadre of Instructors, absolute great class and recommended to all!!

Rescue Special Called to Dist. 2

Last Night just after 1900 hrs Rescue 84 was special called into District 2 for a Motor Vehicle Accident with Entrapment. Rescue 84 with a crew of 5 responded, upon their arrival the crew was split into 2 groups, one assisted with stabilization and the other assisted in the extrication.

Engine 84 also responded and was assigned to the LZ (Landing Zone) for JeffStat1 (Medevac) at Station 82.

This accident is currently under investigation by the GTPD Serious Crash Investigation Unit

Working Fire in District 6

Just after 8pm this evening Taskforce Box 862 was alerted to a Dwelling Fire in the 4 Seasons Neighborhood. 8602 (DC Brown) arrived with an obvious working fire, and filled the All Hands Box, while Engine 62 and Squad 85 began fire attack. Tower 84 arrived as the second due Truck Company an was assigned to fire attack on Division B as well as protecting the exposure. Due to deteriorating conditions, all crews were removed from the building and Defensive Fire Attack went into operations. Engine 842 and Rescue 84 also responded and assisted in fire attack and overhaul. The fire quickly was placed under control.

No injuries were reported, this fire is under investigation by the local and state fire marshals.

New Member Promoted!

Tonight at the GloTwp. Fire District 4 monthly workshop meeting Member Jimmy Alvin was promoted to the rank of Firefighter and received his yellow helmet. Firefighter Alvin joined the company last fall and completed the Firefighter 1 Certification Class at CCRETC in May.

Apartment Fire in Cherrywood Complex

Last night just after 10pm Taskforce 84 was alerted to a reported apartment fire in the cherrywood complex. Responding units were advised by County Communications that they were receiving multiple calls and had reported occupants trapped. Engine 88 (Gloucester Twp. Engine 88) arrived within minutes to find smoke showing from the second floor, and initiated fire suppression and rescue operations. Tower 84 arrived as the first due truck company and laddered the structure, while Squad 85 assisted in establishing water supply. The fire was quickly extinguished, and the scene was placed under control in about 40 minutes.

One occupant was removed by E88s crew and transported to the hospital for burns.

Engine 841, Rescue 84, and Support 849 also responded and provided manpower.

Vehicle vs Pole in District 3

onight’s duty crew was monitoring county radio and heard an MVA be dispatched on Coles Rd in District 3. Rescue 84 with a crew of 5 responded to assist and arrived first due to find a pickup truck into a pole, Rescue 84s crew went into operation with Struts for stabilazation, provided lighting, and stood by to assist EMS with patient removal.

One occupant was transported to a local hospital for evaluation, this accident is under investigation by GTPD.

Rescue 84 Responds to Deptford Working Fire

At 0412 hours Rescue 84 was dispatched on the All hands to the 200 block of Evelyn Drive in the Cooper Village Section. Rescue 84 with a crew of 5 arrived and assumed the initial Rapid Intervention Crew. During fire suppression 84s crew continuously monitored the fire ground to assure everyone’s safety. After the fire was placed under control and interior operations ceased, Rescue 84s crew was put to work in the Charlie Division for overhaul operations. All together Rescue 84 was on scene operating for about 2.5 hours before being released.

Tower 84 Responds to Winslow Twp.

At 0650 this morning Tower Ladder 84 was special called on the 3rd Alarm to Winslow Twp. for a fire in a warehouse. Upon arrival Tower 84 was sent to staging but was quickly brought into the job. The crew split into two groups, one to the roof and one to set up Positive Pressure Ventilation. The roof team worked for about 90 minutes cutting vent holes with other companies.

The fire was brought under control around the 6 hour mark, in total crews spent 3 days with an equivalent of 8 alarms to completely extinguish the fire.

No injuries were reported, this fire is under investigation by the local and state fire marshal.

Easter Weekend Crash

At 1328 hrs Rescue 84, Engine 88, BLS & ALS were dispatched to Erial Road at Davistown Road for a Motor Vehicle Accident. Companies arrived to find a two vehicle crash. Engine 88 assisted BLS with a patient, while Rescue 84 and Engine 842 safed both vehicles and mitigated a highway hazard.

One person was transported to a local hospital.
