Rollover MVC in Blackwood

Tonight just before 10pm Rescue 84, Engine 88, Rescue 86, Squad 86, and GTEMS were alerted to the S. Blackhorse Pike in the area Lincoln Ave for a Motor Vehicle Accident with reported entrapment. Rescue 82 and 8401 went on location with a pickup truck on its side with the driver self extricated. Rescue 82 stabilized the truck while Rescue 84 and Engine 842 safed the battery. Companies were in service for approximately 45 mins.

This accident is under investigation by the Glo. Twp. Police Dept.

Smoke in the Building in District 5

Early yesterday morning (00:43) Taskforce 85 was alerted for reported smoke in the building at the Camden County Youth Correctional Facility. Quint 85 arrived with nothing showing from a one story Type II building. Engine 842 arrived third due (with a crew of 4) and was given the orders of water supply. The engine backed up to Quint 85 and dropped the 5" bundle and prepared to lay out to the hydrant. The interior crews reported a malfunction with electrical equipment and the assignment was held to Quint 85.

Early Morning Building Fire

Early Start for the day for Blackwood: Just before 6am Taskforce 84 was alerted for a reported building fire in a local apartment complex. 8401 (Cheif Cipriano) and Engine 88 arrived with nothing showing but an audible alarm from the interior. Engine 842 responded and arrived as the next due engine and secured the hydrant and prepared to lay in. Engine 88 stretched an 1 3/4” attack line to the basement and located an unknown source of smoke. The source was later determined to be a faulty appliance and the assignment was scaled back to E88, E84, TL62.

Station responds to Afternoon Dwelling

Update to Earlier’s Post: Station 84 responded to a dwelling fire in Pine Hill this afternoon. 6202 (Deputy Chief Hunter) and Engine 62 arrived with smoke showing from a three story end of the row townhouse and stretched an 1 3/4” attack line to the fire. Tower 84 arrived as the first due ladder company and were sent to Side D to check for extension. Engine 842 arrived Fourth due engine and assumed secondary water supply. Apartment Fire displaces 25 people.

One minute after 12 on January 21st, TaskForce 84 along with GTEMS and Virtua Paramedics we’re alerted to an apartment fire with reported people trapped in the Downtown Blackwood Area. Upon the arrival of GTPD it was reported there was fire from the roof and residents were being evacuated. Upon the arrival of Engine 88 the report was confirmed and companies went to work. Engine 842 arrived second due with a crew of 5 and split between an interior and exterior crews. The interior crew began open the ceilings of the fire apartment, before being alerted to evacuate due to deteriorating conditions.

The fire ended up reaching three alarms before being placed under control around 330am, companies remained in scene until just after 5am

No injuries were reported.

This fire is under investigation by the local and county Fire Marshals.

Beginning of Yearly Re-Qualifications

Tonight began our annual SCBA Re-Qualification. Tonight’s drill was hosted by Gloucester Township Fire District 6 which consisted of a short lecture on the importance of SCBA usage, along with a short video on proper SCBA usage, followed by an IPAT style course. Each member completed the course and times and air consumption were documented.

Working Fire in District 4

Earlier this evening TaskForce 84 was alerted to the Autumn Ridge Apartments for a reported dwelling fire. While enroute Communications alerted units of multiple calls for smoke in the building. Upon arrival of 8401 (Chief Cipriano) it was found to have smoke showing. Engine 88 arrived and laid in and stretched an 1 3/4” handline while Tower 84 assumed first due truck responsibilities. The fire was held to a single apartment.

No injuries were reported, this fire is under investigation by the local fire marshal.
